Night Shift #2: Cultural Heritage & City Marketing
15 June 2017 19:00 - 21:00
The red 'hop-on hop-off' busses have arrived in Rotterdam, a telltale sign that the city has become a tourist destination. What are the benefits of these growing numbers of tourists for cultural heritage institutions? And do city marketers need art and culture in order to 'sell' the city?
Night Shift
Night Shift is a new monthly debate night set up by a grassroots organisation of cultural heritage professionals. Curious, open, and critical it explores the relationship between cultural organisations and their audiences.
On the 15th of June, Night Shift will be dedicated to the relationship between City Marketing and cultural heritage. Studio VOLLAERSZWART will be talking about their city dressing project in The Hague. To honour the 100th anniversary of De Stijl, they dressed the city in primary colours. Are there other ways in which art, heritage and city marketing can work together?
Night Shift is a free event, but a voluntary donation would be appreciated. We will primarily speak English, but questions in Dutch are welcome. Afterwards, there's an opportunity to meet in the Nieuwe Café and continue the conversation.
Thursday Bite
Before the Thursday Night you can grab a bite and eat with the speakers and staff of Het Nieuwe Instituut. At 18:30 Het Nieuwe Café will serve either soup with bread or a quiche with salad. Dinner vouchers are available for ¬7.50 up to a day before the particular Thursday Night event via the Tickets link of the parallel programme Bot Club.
