Narcissus & Echo

During this interactive dance performance, participants expand the border between physical and virtual reality by stepping into the mythical world of _Narcissus & Echo. _In this VR experience, Narcisussus and Echo are trapped in a mirror palace, together with the audience. How can they escape? Is it possible to interact with one another? What happens when we lose ourselves in another person, in an unrequited love? And what happens to our reality, if we focus only on ourselves and our own image? What does this ancient myth tell us about the world of Zoom, Tinder and Instagram? These questions are explored during the performance.
Narcissus & Echo
A widely diverse team, from dance, design, and technology, used the lockdown to create a completely new virtual reality - intended to be experienced in small groups once the public stages such a museums and theatres were open again. In a time where we were all isolating ourselves, while craving for contact, and living through screens, the creators asked themselves: what is contact? How does one make contact? And what would happen if we could see all of this through the eyes of someone else?
Narcissus & Echo is a collaborative project by Veejays.com and House of Makers and is premiering at Q-Factory in Amsterdam on Friday, 11 June, followed by four performances on Sunday, 13 June at Het Nieuwe Instituut. A performance will take place every hour from 1pm to 4pm - choose your timeslot when you book your ticket!
