The Monster Leviathan: Anarchitecture by Aaron Betsky
Aaron Betsky presents his latest book, The Monster Leviathan, in which he outlines visionary proposals for a mythic and strange architecture – or anarchitecture – through which we can imagine other and better worlds.
18 January 2024 18:30 - 20:00
In The Monster Leviathan, Aaron Betsky traces anarchitecture through 20th- and early 21st-century texts, design, and art, suggesting that these ephemeral evocations are concrete proposals in and of themselves.
The Monster Leviathan gives students and architecture enthusiasts, as well as those who hope to build a better, more sustainable, and socially just future, a set of tools with which to imagine that such other worlds are possible. As Betsky eloquently puts it, anarchitecture already exists and does not exist. It is the myth of building, and all we have to do is find it.
The publication is available from MIT Press or NAi Booksellers.
