Maarten Gielen / Conference Research on Display
Rotor was responsible for the exhibition 'OMA/ Progress' at the Barbican Art Gallery in London in 2012, which analysed in a most intriguing way the working methods of the world famous firm OMA of the Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas. Rotor also curated and designed the Belgian presentation 'Usus/Usures' at the Venice Biennale in 2010. It entailed a show that demonstrated the poetic beauty of wear and tear in architecture by displaying used parts of interiors.
Maarten Gielen is the winner of the Rotterdam-Maaskant Prize for Young Architects 2015. His lecture was the closing event of the two-day conference 'Research on Display. The Architecture Exhibition as a Model for Knowledge Production' organised by the Jaap Bakema Study Centre together with TU Delft.
