Land of Desire, State of Neglect
On the eve before the new elections in The Netherlands a political debate takes place at the Nieuwe Instituut where candidate MPs discuss the choices regarding spatial planning that are currently being made that decide the future of the country. What kind of future is it, how to realise it, and what kind of role can spatial design play? This afternoon is organised by Deltametropolis Association, Federatie Ruimtelijke Kwaliteit, (IM)Pactnetwerk, Platform31 and Nieuwe Instituut.

Watch the livestreamThe initiators of this debate state that The Netherlands changed from a country with a vision and a planning culture to a state of neglect over an incredibly short period. They believe that urgent action is needed to invest legislation that creates room for new housing, sustainable energy supplies, biodiversity, climate safety and justice, mobility, and a healthy and safe living environment. These topics regarding spatial policy will be discussed by the candidate MPs in the debate, led by Natasja van den Berg.
