The finalists of the Kunstbende Zuid-Holland young talent competition present their work: Dante Kedde, Leo Verstappen and Isabella Vogel.

Kunstbende is a network organisation that discovers, develops and exhibits young talent. The Kunstbende breeding ground has produced many artists. Among the better-known of them are Martin Garrix, Vincent Vianen, Trijntje Oosterhuis, Abdelkader Benali and DeWolff.

Every year Kunstbende holds a national competition for young creative talent between the ages of thirteen and eighteen years. A preliminary round is first organised in each province. The finalists who emerge from those preliminary rounds go on to the national finale. In this Pop-in Expo the finalists from the South Holland preliminary round present their work.

Dante Kedde

Dante Kedde is 15 years old and comes from The Hague. She makes paintings, drawings and stop motion films about things that she dislikes. Dante came first in South Holland in the category Expo and Film.

Leo Verstappen

Leo Verstappen is 17 years old and comes from Delft. Leo's entry for the Kunstbende 2018 competition is a beautiful sculpture. It is a fresco that raises the question of whether it is worth striving to achieve ideals.

Isabella Vogel

Isabella Vogel is 17 years old and comes from Dordrecht. Isabella made a crochet work for the competition. It is made from several layers of wool and includes beads and longer threads. The work needs no explanation.

Pop-in Expo

New presentations of mainly young design talent can be seen in the foyer of Het Nieuwe Instituut every few weeks. It is a way of highlighting a striking design or innovative research, whether or not it is connected with the current exhibition and debate programme of Het Nieuwe Instituut.
