International Clinic: Residencies

During this International Clinic, we will explore the world of residencies through conversations with practitioners. They will share their experiences of recent residency programmes and how they have shaped their practice. DutchCulture will introduce their platform TransArtists and the Creative Industries Fund NL will present residency opportunities abroad.

23 May 2024 13:00 - 17:00

International residency programmes come in many shapes and forms and take place in a variety of settings and environments. For designers and artists, residencies can serve as a space for experimentation, research and exchange, for deepening and developing their practice and work, and for building connections and expanding networks.

While the number of residencies for designers, makers and architects around the world is growing, understanding the opportunities, expectations and forms of international residencies can be daunting. What happens before, during and after a residency? What can it bring to a host organisation or a local context? What mutual responsibilities and opportunities do residencies offer? What is the value of the exchanges had during a residency from these different perspectives?

International Clinics

The International Clinics provide a platform for Netherlands-based designers to gain a deeper understanding of the opportunities, challenges and best practices of working internationally. The International Clinics are organised on a quarterly basis with partners DutchCulture, Creative Industries Fund NL and the diplomatic network. In 2024, the International Clinics will focus on various aspects of international cooperation and exchange. In addition to learning about different opportunities, the clinic enables creatives to share international knowledge, experiences and networks in order to stimulate and sustain meaningful collaborations.
