How Do We Learn From?

The Berlage's exhibition 'How Do We Learn From? 'is transposed from the corridor of the architecture department at TU Delft and presented to a wider audience in Gallery 3. The exhibition reflects on the spatial and architectural dimension of exhibition design, and its potential to engage our daily surroundings.

Questioning how societal challenges can be documented and displayed through the lens of spaces used daily at TU Delft's Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment, the exhibition builds on premises set out by _Designing the Social _- currently on display in Gallery 1 - as part of an inter-institutional collaboration.

As a collective project, 24 international architects respond to observed routines and practices, and the spaces that organise them, culminating in 12 contributions. From social isolation and gender inequality to environmental crises and resource mismanagement, contemporary urgencies at play within the faculty's rituals, symbols, and curriculum are confronted and presented to its various audiences.

Displayed in life-size photographs, together with the working model used for its development, the installation presented here reflects on the spatial and architectural dimension of exhibition design, and its potential to engage our daily surroundings.

About The Berlage

The Berlage Center for Advanced Studies in Architecture and Urban Design, part of the Delft University of Technology's Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment, educates architects in a highly collaborative and experimental setting, characterised by independent study with guidance and input from and exchange with leading and emerging designers and scholars. Founded in 1990 as the Berlage Institute, it offers an accredited, three-semester, English-language post-master programme, along with a rich and diverse public programme of lectures, exhibitions, and conversations. Students work both individually and collectively across a series of design-based research projects, proseminars, fieldwork excursions, and master classes.
