Keep the rain out: making waterproofs

Waterproof fabrics are centre stage in the workshop 'Keep the rain out. 'Adults will use a pattern to make a pair of waterproof trousers or a rain poncho. Children will make a watertight tent.

Adults Make your own waterproof poncho or trousers from high-tech fabric comprising several layers that make it waterproof yet allow it to breathe. Choose between a unisex poncho or waterproof trousers. The poncho is a one-size-fits-all model and has a hood. The waterproof trousers have an elastic waist and can also have elastic at the ankles.

The workshop costs ¬29.50, including supervision, patterns, materials, use of equipment and tea or coffee and a snack. Please note: lunch is not included but Het Nieuwe Cafe offers a range of sandwiches and salads.

Children When you go out in the rain you normally wear a raincoat or carry an umbrella to avoid getting wet. Could you also make your phone, rabbit or rucksack waterproof? Following a guided tour of the exhibitions, children will have an opportunity to design and make their own unique waterproof object.

The workshop costs ¬5.00 including entry, a short guided tour, supervision and materials.
