The Living Archive: A New Bospolderplein
Join the festive launch of new designs for Bospolderplein on 17 March 2022! Under the banner of the energy transition and in the interests of 'upgrading', numerous plans are being hatched on municipal drawing boards for the redesign of Rotterdam's Bospolder-Tussendijken (BoTu) district. But who makes these plans - and, more importantly, with whom, and for whom? Young researchers and designers show us what they themselves have in mind for the square, while the 'urban researchers' who supervised them explain the process and methods.

Alternative approaches to urban planning
At this event, Yout Dem will present what they have in mind for the square: the models, drawings and artist's impressions that they have made based on extensive fieldwork, reflections and conversations with Urban Researchers and local residents. Urban Researchers Zico Lopes and Malique Mohamud explain the process and methods. The Agency of Het Nieuwe Instituut is exploring what alternative approach to social questions local government could take from this process of reinterpretation and redesign of public space. Finally, the designs of the square will be festively included in the National Collection for Dutch Architecture and Urban Planning.
With contributions from Yout Dem Berkhan Hakkan, Chahira Kalai and Monday Wijntuin, Urban Researchers Malique Mohamud and Zico Lopes and Francien van Westrenen and Behrang Moussavi from Het Nieuwe Instituut.
