Capturing Memories with Needle and Thread

The New Haberdashery is organising the workshop 'Capturing Memories with Needle and Thread 'in connection with the exhibition 'Finders Keepers.' Needle and thread convert a fond memory - a photograph, souvenir or keepsake - into a tactile work. Participants can bring along a photograph or object with a personal story. This memory is then made abstract and embroidered.

Based on the photographs that you have brought along or on what you remember, you start by making sketches. You then go on to experiment with various embroidery stitches that you can use to turn your sketch into an object by means of needle and thread. On the basis of your research and sketch, you design a small artwork the size of the embroidery ring you are using.

Prices

The workshop costs ¬19.50, including supervision, materials, use of equipment, tea or coffee and a snack. Please note: lunch is not included but Het Nieuwe Cafe offers a range of sandwiches and salads.

The New Haberdashery reserves the right to cancel or move the workshop if there are less than five applications.
