Gouden Handjes

This Thursday Night Live! BNO IMG LAB evening was dedicated to manual craftmanship. Why do designers sometimes choose manual craftmanship over digital produced works? What is the charm of craft in video, illustration or graphic design? On 23 February, BNO IMG LAB presented handiwork at its best!

Robert Lagendijk

For the story of Buurman en Buurman journalist and photographer Robert Lagendijk researched the glorious past of this animated series. Lagendijk travelled to the home of _Buurman en Buurman _in the Czech Republic. In this book he emphisizes on the history, makers and the world of Buurman en Buurman. Forty years ago this duo was born in Prague and from there they conquered the world. The book demonstrates how the animated series is rooted in Czech culture. Meanwhile, Buurman en Buurman is broadcasted all over the world.

From Form

From Form is a film studio in Rotterdam by Jurjen Versteeg and Ashley Govers. They produce commercials, title sequences and graphics where the love for set-building and attention to detail is present. Through using and experimenting with various materials, textures and techniques, they create visual experiences that come to life on screen or paper

Sooji Lee

Sooji Lee was born in Korea, grew up in Jakarta, studied in Seoul, worked in New York as a graphic designer and did her master recently at the Design Academy in Eindhoven. She was nominated for the Gijs Bakker Prize with a graduation project on manual craftsmanship. Sooji Lee describes herselfs as a designer that involves both spatial and graphics in her work. Through a methodical thought process she develops all sorts of constructions that give her graphic work more edge.

Studio Spass

Studio Spass alias Jaron Korvinus and Daan Mens are combining smart approach with a playful sensibility in their work. Their works cover print, branding, webanimation, photography and spatial design projects at home and abroad. They contributed works for The Kunsthal, With de With Art Centre, Tent, Zig Zag City Architecture festival and you probably know the work of Studio Spass from the Museum Rotterdam campaign. Their works contains a humorous undertone and love for handmade sets and props
