Black America Again, Bradford Young

Features the following films:

_Armonia_ (12 min)

Documentary about The Ummah Chroma made by alumni from the Ghetto Film School, making their debut as a collective with this film. A visualization of the truths and experiences of The Ummah Chroma by alumni from the Ghetto Film School, making their debut as a collective with Armonia. Inspired by their voices, Novus Manier looks to capture the innermost fears and joys of their lives working as artists and storytellers.

_AS TOLD TO G/D THYSELF_, The Ummah Chroma (22 min)

The cosmic journey of sacred youth, during which pain, pleasure and sublimation are non-negotiable. A transcending experience in striking visuals over an improvisational score. Shot in Baltimore, AS TOLD TO G/D THYSELF is The Ummah Chroma's first work as a collective and follows a musical rather than a narrative logic.

_Letter to the Free_, Bradford Young (19 min)

Inspired by some of the greatest musical recordings and performances 'behind bars', Young imagines a time and place where jails and prisons are no longer filled with bodies but are ruins of a time of isolation, pain and absence. A film about our collective redemption. About second chances, forgiving mistakes, rehabilitation, love and exoneration.

_Black America Again_, Bradford Young (22 min)

Black America Again, inspired by Common's eleventh studio album of the same name, touches on topics that are relevant and urgent in today's society. The abstract black-and-white video is a visual celebration of the beauty, strength, perseverance and spirit of the Black community in spite of these troubling times.
