Far Is Near
This workshop takes you out on to the street to 'become' different objects: a tree, a bridge, a car, or a bus stop. As you walk, you do experiments with your ears one meter apart, then 2m, 5m, 20m& it's as if your head is getting bigger and bigger. Can you intertwine sounds that enter your ears from a greater distance than you are used to? Dutch artist duo PolakVanBekkum use mics and extension cables to connect these distances to headphones.
6 September 2019 14:00 - 16:30
This participatory walk takes about 2,5 hours (walk and post-walk discussion). At the end of the walk the participants share their experiences with each other and translate these into simple, poetic or even schematic drawings.
PolakVanBekkum
In their work Esther Polak and Ivar van Bekkum (PolakVanBekkum) explore movement and mobility in the (urban) landscape. In recent years they have been experimenting with location-specific binaural sound recordings to allow the listener to experience a range of realities.
