Diana Ritfeld – Mess with your Headwrapping
As a teenager Diana Ritfeld was excited by the traditional Suriname headscarves that her grandma wore. These 'angisas' are Surinamese cultural heritage; each form expresses a different message. The creative headscarves that Ritfeld wears and distributes are created without any pre-conceived plan and are artistic, free designs. Be just as spontaneous in creating your own headscarf with the help of Diana.
7 February 2019 19:30 - 21:30
This headwrapping by Diana Ritfeld, specially designed for Het Nieuwe Instituut, can now be seen in the maker space of the exhibition Speculative Design Archive.
Diana Ritfeld
Ever since she was a girl, Diana Ritfeld has been designing her own headscarves. She currently gives workshops and lectures and sells her headscarves. Her brand Di'xpression is intended to give women more self-confidence by wearing a headscarf.
