De Zwarte Hond Debate: Thinking Bigger
Join a debate with design agency De Zwarte Hond based on Ensemble Urbanism, the latest edition of their bookazine OutThere. In it, they demonstrate how ensembles could offer solutions to the housing crisis and issues of liveability, particularly in big cities.
25 September 2025 17:00 - 20:00
The current housing challenge demands greater speed, scale and quality, without losing sight of the human dimension and liveability. De Zwarte Hond believes that urban planning ensembles can play an important role in this, with architecture, public spaces and urban planning designed to work together harmoniously.
Speakers include Jeroen van Willigen (De Zwarte Hond), the Netherlands’ Chief Government Architect Francesco Veenstra, Esther Verkerk (Woonstad Rotterdam), Chief City Architect of Antwerp Christian Rapp, and Emma Lucassen (AM Area Development). They are debating the question, ‘Have we forgotten how to think big?’ with Dore van Duivenbode as moderator.
