The Geometric Gardens are located in a forest clearing near the Herning Art Museum in Herning, Denmark. The composition consists of nine geometric shapes, an eleven meters long disc, six polygons with eleven meters long sides, a circle and an oval. In this pop-in expo Joost Emmerik presents models of The Geometric Gardens and a series of photographs by Christina Capetillo.

The Geometric Gardens are located in a forest clearing near the Herning Art Museum in Herning, Denmark. The garden was designed in 1956 by Danish landscape architect C.Th. Sørensen (1893 - 1979) but wasn't realised in its original size untill 1983, when the Association of Danish Landscape Architects constructed the garden to commemorate their 50th anniversary.

Joost Emmerik

Joost Emmerik is a garden designer and researcher. Trained as an architect and urban designer at Technical University Delft in The Netherlands, he has worked as a designer of outdoor spaces since his graduation in 2004. With a firm belief in the evoking power of gardens and a need for them in this day and age form the basis of his work. Joost Emmerik searches for a logical simplicity, combining clear lines, robust materials and luscious planting into places that grow more exuberant over time. Other contributions to the Dissident Gardens programme are the concept for a mural and the pop-in expo A Grand Mountain Scene.

Christina Capetillo

Christina Capetillo is an Associate Professor at the Institute for Architecture, Urbanism and Landscape at Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, photographer and photographic theorist with a specialized interest in the vernacular built landscape.

Pop-in expo

Bi-weekly changing presentations in the Het Nieuwe Instituut's foyer. A controversial new design, sensational research, work by an emerging talent or a new acquisition for the State Archive for Dutch Architecture and Urban Planning are given a place in the spotlight.
