Border Environments: The entangled politics of ecology and migration
'Border Environments' sets out to critically investigate the interplay between environmental processes and migration struggles. This two-day programme of talks, projects, screenings, and conversations seeks to outline a conceptual and practical framework for examining how the environment has become an active agent in the making of cross-border mobilities and immobilities.
12 May 2022 10:00 - 13 May 2022 18:00
By addressing a number of key issues--including the weaponisation of semi-natural landscapes in border struggles, the instrumentalisation of conservation projects, and the transformation of ecologies through securitisation--the programme aims to expose the political and material effects of environmental forces in relation to bordering and exclusion.
The programme is organised by the Centre for Research Architecture in collaboration with the Het Nieuwe Instituut.
