Book Launch: Willem van Tijen. Wonen tot geluk maken

Who was Willem van Tijen, the architect who brought high-rise and social housing to Rotterdam and played a leading role in rebuilding the city? André van Deursen introduces the latest publication in the BONAS Foundation series: Willem van Tijen (1894-1974) - Wonen tot geluk maken [Making Living into Happiness]. With contributions from Hans Teerds, Michelle Provoost, Paul Groenendijk and others.

In collaboration with the BONAS Foundation and Kokon Architecture & Urban Planning, the firm Van Tijen founded, the Willem van Tijen Foundation presents an in-depth monograph on his exciting life. The book offers a fresh look at Van Tijen’s contribution to Dutch architecture: the work of a driven idealist, who turned his vision into reality.

With an in-depth lecture by Hans Teerds and a panel discussion with Michelle Provoost (Independent School for the City) , Paul Groenendijk (Post-War Reconstruction Community Rotterdam) andothers. The first copy will go to the Van Tijen family.
