Archieftraject XXS: Get started with your own archive
Do you own a treasure trove of archival material, and are you looking to have a better understanding of it? Or are you searching for useful ways to bring structure to diverse archive material? With the Archieftraject XXS workshop, you and other designers, makers and organisations will take a close look at your archive, and take concrete steps to organise your archive.
1 June 2023 12:00 - 15:00
The workshop starts with a presentation by Guido Jansen, project lead of the Archieftraject, who will walk you through the steps of creating your own archive. After this introduction, you meet participants who have gone before you in the Archieftraject, followed by an (accelerated) dive into the process yourself: in one afternoon you experience the Archieftraject and all its aspects. You will learn how to organize and describe your archive, as well as how to determine what will (and will not) become part of your archive. This forms the starting point for drawing up a personal action plan. The goal is that, with this new knowledge under your belt, you can further develop, implement and maintain your own archive process.
When?
The workshop takes place on June 1st from 14:00 to 17:00. From 13:00 to 13:30 it is possible to get a free guided tour from one of our detour guides through the Archives at Risk exhibition. Sign up for the workshop, the detour, or both through the registration link below.

As capacity is limited for the workshop, please register in time through the button above. One week before the workshop, you’ll receive a home assignment. This entails making a rough inventory of the preserved material and name the types of material your archive consists of. You will work with the results of this assignment during the workshop.
About Archieftraject
Every company, ensemble, designer, collective, agency, theater and festival possesses a treasury of archival material. The beautiful sketches, critical notes and rich visual material inspire new makers, researchers and audiences. The Archieftraject helps institutions and makers get their treasuries organized so they can share them with others. Podiumkunst.net and the Network Archives Design and Digital Culture invite institutions and makers from the design, digital culture and performing arts sectors to map their archives with the help of a coach – and make plans to preserve the archives permanently and make them accessible.
The Archieftraject is a professionalization course for cultural institutions and creators in which they learn how to take care of their archives. How do I map out what I have? How do I organize it simply? And what is involved if I want to share it with others, such as colleagues, researchers, other makers or the public? Read more about the Archieftraject on Podiumkunst.net
