Artist and photographer Hassan Hajjaj is known for mixing traditional Moroccan culture with contemporary Western influences. Much of his work focuses on those who have an African, Caribbean or Middle Eastern heritage. With this theme, Hajjaj creates an image of a society that is united, rather than divided, by its differences.

Hajjaj’s work includes photo portraits, installations, performances, fashion and interior design. Sometimes called “the Andy Warhol of Marrakech”, he uses bright colours, dynamic patterns and everyday objects to create unique compositions, exploring the relationship between East and West and making a warm, welcoming space for audiences to enjoy.

This event is in collaboration with DAR Agency.

The visit of Hassan Hajjaj is made possible by the International Visitors Programme of the Nieuwe Instituut with support from the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
