Photographer Johannes Schwartz asked Collection staff members of Het Nieuwe Instituut about their favourite archive pieces. He then photographed them, putting together the series that you can see all over the building.

Het Nieuwe Instituut manages the National Collection for Dutch Architecture and Urban Planning. The Collection consists of about 18 kilometres of archive material from over 700 archives of Dutch architects and urban planners.
Large parts of the collection, including design drawings, the photo collection and the archive of Theo van Doesburg, are currently being conserved, restored and digitised as part of Disclosing Architecture, the multi-year heritage programme. We asked photographer Johannes Schwartz to document various aspects of this project.
