Nieuwe Instituut contributes to cultural programme Mono Japan Fair

Mono Japan Fair and the Nieuwe Instituut are collaborating on a cultural programme for the design fair taking place in Rotterdam this fall. In addition to the Fair, which features modern Japanese crafts, Nieuwe Instituut is working with the organisation on a programme that brings cultures together.

MONO JAPAN, established to introduce modern Japanese artisanal products and makers to Dutch and European audiences, will host their fair in two Rotterdam hotels from September 13 to 15, 2024: Hotel Âme and Supernova Hotel. In hotel rooms, a curated selection of Japanese products and crafts will be exhibited, such as clothing, ceramics, books other products. More details about the content of the cultural program in which the Nieuwe Instituut is participating will be announced later.

About Mono Japan

Mono Japan started as an organisation that introduces carefully curated selection of modern Japanese artisanal products and makers to the Dutch and European audience. Its activities consist of organising a yearly artisanal design fair from products of Japanese craftspeople and (small) companies as well as holding workshops, lectures and discussions to initiate and facilitate collaboration between Japanese and European artists and designers. The first Mono Japan Fair took place in 2016 in the Lloyd Hotel Amsterdam. In September 2024 for the first time, Mono Japan will be held in Rotterdam.
