King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands attends programme of Nieuwe Instituut at World Expo in Japan

Nieuwe Instituut is curator of the cultural programme of the Dutch Pavilion at the World Expo in Osaka, Kansai, Japan.

  • On Wednesday 21 May, His Majesty King Willem-Alexander was a guest at the Dutch National Day at the World Expo in Osaka, Kansai, Japan.

  • At the World Expo, His Majesty attended part of Activating Common Ground, the cultural programme that the Nieuwe Instituut curated for the Dutch Pavilion.

  • The cultural programme was set up as an interdisciplinary “live magazine”, in which collaboration and exchange between Japanese and Dutch makers are central throughout.

  • The King visited the dance performance UNUM by Introdans and Land Fes and opened the exhibition Bridging Past & Future, which shows the result of collaborations between Dutch and Japanese makers.

  • The cultural programme takes place in the Dutch pavilion and other locations in Osaka during the six-month duration of the World Expo.
