Save the Date: The World Around Summit 2022

Het Nieuwe Instituut will be one of two international venues to host the week-long summit of The World Around, the New York-based architecture and design platform. The third annual summit "celebrating architecture and design's now, near and next", is dedicated to sharing critical and cutting-edge new projects and conversations in the fields of contemporary architecture, design and culture. It will take place from 29 January to 5 February 2022.

20 November 2021

Taking place both online and in person, the 2022 summit will launch at Het Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam on Saturday 29 January and close at the Guggenheim Museum in New York City on Saturday 5 February. Het Nieuwe Instituut is the first European partner venue of the event.

In this new, expanded format, two all-day conferences will take place on consecutive Saturdays along with a bespoke programme of original content, from articles to short films, which will be launched online during the intervening week. As in previous editions, global design practitioners will address their recently completed and under-construction projects that speak to internationally pressing issues including climate change, racial and social equity, ecology, indigenous rights, digital technology and community.

The World Around's co-founder and executive director Beatrice Galilee says: /"The World Around's 2021 summit was held entirely online and our innovative, experimental programming reached a huge global audience through our collaboration with the Guggenheim Museum. We are excited to continue that relationship with the upcoming edition, and thrilled to be partnering with our first European cultural organisation, Het Nieuwe Instituut, one of the continent's most exciting places for contemporary design thinking./"

The World Around's 2022 Summit will be a round-up of compelling architectural, spatial, environmental and social projects from the last year. Limited in-person tickets will be available for both venues and a live-broadcast will stream online for free on multiple channels.

More information will follow shortly. Subscribe to the newsletter to be the first to know when registration opens, speakers are announced, and tickets released.

About Amura

Amura, born from the collaboration between the Dambrosio family and the art direction of Emanuel Gargano and Anton Cristell, is a homage to the amazing landscape of the Murge of Altamura (in Apulia, Italy), where rock formations in varied and whimsical shapes absorb the essence of the natural elements, and reflect them back as visions and colours of unique beauty. Amura's collections are an invitation to savour every moment and enjoy every nuance to find the authentic essence of life. The company mission is to spread pride in its roots, and the passionate artisanship that characterises this territory, all over the world through the design of its Amura furniture; to this end, Amura can count on an important showcase in the heart of Brera, Milan, the undisputed centre of the international design. Amura is also opening a new flagship store in SoHo, New York City.
