Het Nieuwe Instituut presents Web Magazines
Het Nieuwe Instituut launched its new website on January 19.
23 January 2015
The site is built around so-called 'web magazines', independent sub-sites for different projects, which have their own visual identity and structure. With this new website, Het Nieuwe Instituut aims to better distribute and share the knowledge it produces and deepen the online communication.
Design websites and covers: Moniker
Technical realisation: Hoppinger, bureau voor Open Source techniek
Using the web magazines on www.hetnieuweinstituut.nl, the institute wants to introduce a layering in its online communication. In addition to announcements of activities such as exhibitions, lectures and debates, the site provides background information, including project descriptions, video, audio, and image reports of activities, as well as longer texts (longreads) such as essays and interviews.
Covers
Every project that is implemented by Het Nieuwe Instituut will have its own magazine on the website, containing all information connected to the project. Like their paper counterparts, all magazines get their own cover: a dynamic, interactive and visual 'opening' of the magazine. These covers are made by different designers, who are often responsible for the entire graphic design of a certain project. This way, each web magazine has its own visual identity and the website functions as a platform for graphic and interactive design.
Questions and comments
Although the website has been created with the utmost care, no doubt there will be mistakes, improvements and omissions. The website will be further developed over the coming period. Comments can be sent to webredactie@hetnieuweinstituut.nl.
