Het Nieuwe Instituut and the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment at Delft University of Technology are very happy to announce the renewal of their collaboration through the Jaap Bakema Study Centre for the period 2017-2020.
20 January 2017
Founded in 2013 and headed by Dirk van den Heuvel, the Jaap Bakema Study Centre initiates and develops research leading to exhibitions, publications, discussions and specific partial studies related to the activities of Het Nieuwe Instituut and the research programme of the Delft University of Technology Faculty of Architecture. The study centre also facilitates research conducted by and with third parties.
For the new period, one of the key research projects is Total Space. Total Space investigates the international dimensions of Structuralism, as well as the crossovers between architecture, planning, anthropology and systems theory. It aims to connect recent history with speculations on the future of our lifestyles. In addition, the study centre will launch its first book publication Jaap Bakema and the Open Society in Spring 2017.
Finally, an academic advisory board has been set up. The board members are: Maristella Casciato (Getty Research Institute), Laurent Stalder (Institut GTA, ETH Zurich), Tom Avermaete (TU Delft), Carola Hein (TU Delft) and Hetty Berens (HNI).
