Web coversIn the previous version of the Nieuwe Instituut's website (2015-2022), individual projects, such as exhibitions, were given their own 'web magazine'. Web magazines each had its own cover: a dynamic, interactive visual 'opening' of the magazine. It gave each web magazine its own visual identity. Thus, the website functioned not only as an information source and communication tool, but also as an experimental platform for graphic and interactive design.
Several artists and interaction designers were commissioned to experiment with these web covers. Studio Moniker worked closely with the Nieuwe Instituut and the designers to develop these webcovers.
All webcovers are available online, retaining all interactive features. You can read more about the creators, and about the concept of each webcover.
With the new, current, website, we are again seeking innovation and experimentation, for example by creating complementary and rich user experiences, and exploring the possibilities of AI and augmented reality.
